we’ve got some exciting news about the upcoming Android 16! While most of us were expecting Google to follow the usual pattern of dessert names starting with the next letter of the alphabet, they've taken a different route this time.

Instead of a dessert starting with "W", the codename for Android 16 is Baklava ... yes, the delicious puff pastry dessert!

A Little Backstory:

For years, Google codenamed Android versions after desserts, starting with "Cupcake" (Android 1.5) all the way to "Vanilla Ice Cream" for Android 15. However, the Android development process has undergone a major change, leading to this surprising codename for Android 16.

Here’s the twist: this change is a result of Google's new trunk stable project, which altered their build processes. For instance, the build IDs for Android versions no longer follow the usual alphabetical pattern, starting instead with "A" and now moving to "B" for the upcoming Android 16.
