Tech giant Google has released Android 15, the latest version of the smartphone operating system, on iQOO/Vivo Deices. The new update includes upgraded security features allowing users to keep their sensitive personal and financial information protected from all types of fraud and theft. There are improvements for large-screen devices, besides the upgrade to certain apps such as cameras, passkeys, messaging and others.
As per Google, the update has started rolling out to iQOO devices, starting with iQOO 12 . Among the supported devices are:
To update an iQOO phone, you can do the following:
You can also opt-in to receive trial updates and upgrades by following these steps:
If your device is eligible for updates, you will receive notifications. Downloading is optional.
Before updating your phone, it is recommended to back up your data, including contacts, images, videos, documents, messages, chats, and in-app backups.
Updates can help optimize the phone's system compatibility and stability, and can also fix bugs or add new features. They won't delete your original data or reduce your phone's performance.
Theft Detection Lock
Google said that the all-new Theft Detection Lock option uses artificial intelligence to help keep the data safe. Once the device senses that someone has snatched it or is trying to run away with it, in such instances it will automatically lock your device.
Further, the option for Remote Lock will be there to quickly lock your device from any other smartphone with the help of your phone number and a simple security check. The feature is available for most devices operating on Android 10 and above.
Moreover, Android provides additional protection thereby preventing others from guessing your passwords and accessing sensitive information.
Google has introduced authentication requirements for key settings that are targeted by thieves. Among these include removing the SIM or turning off the 'Find My Device' option. The new option will lock the device after witnessing multiple failed attempts for apps and settings.
Private Space
The private space option in the Android 15 will act like a digital safe where users will be allowed to create a separate private space to keep their sensitive apps, including social, dating or banking apps and others. In the locked mode, these apps will remain virtually invisible to others and hidden from the apps list as well as recent apps view, notifications and settings.
An additional layer of authentication would be required to access private space.
In Android 15, the Low Light Boost and in-app camera controls will be working in a better way under low-light conditions. Further, the third-party apps will be granted more camera control, including more precise flash control.
Carrier messaging apps will now be able to send or receive messages through satellite connectivity, without utilising the mobile or Wi-Fi connection.
Single tap login option will be available for apps that use Passkeys for authentication
