I'll review my gaming setup and everything it includes
I purchased this laptop during COVID era in october 2020 for 1 lac 10 thousand during Diwali sale and this laptop has faithfully served me till now with no issues . It was expensive because in those years 17 inch laptops were rare and hence the low demand and high price.
Specifications for my laptop
1) Intel i7 10750H ( 10th generation)
This is a 6 core 12 threads cpu based on Comet lake Architecture
It has 14nm fabrication and clocked at a Maximum of 4.80 GHz while the base frequency can go even lower than 2 GHz
In my personal experience I have found this CPU to be very inefficient and often overheating during gaming. You would be better off undervolting this CPU to lower heat generation
2) GTX 1660ti
This GPU has a maximum power draw of 120 watts and has 6Gb vram.
it is capable enough to run even modern 2024 games at 60 fps in 1080p resolution if you tweak the graphics settings between high and medium.
3) Screen - 144hz 1080 at 3ms latency
The screen supports 100% sRGB colours and 72% NTSC.
While the screen is not OLED and there is backlit glow during dark scenes in games it runs pretty well in most scenarios . I also found the screen brightness to be lacking and inadequate at only 350 nits.
4) 16gb ram ( 8 gb dual channel )
The default ram comes from Intel and is enough for every task.
5) 1TB nvme SSD storage ( there are 3 slots in the motherboard for SSD )
I used the Crucial P3 plus Nvme SSD
6) Side facing bottom speakers which support stereo Audio in game
The speakers are loud enough to hear voice dialogues and footsteps in games but there is a lack of bass and clarity which only headphones can provide.
7) multicolour RGB Aura Lights
The key travel is fine and the colours can be changed from single colour to colour gradients. It is a membrane keyboard but if you like you can use an external mechanical keyboard.
8) 2 Fan cooling system with 3 vents for air outflow.
2 vents in the back and 1 on the right side.
There are no ports on the right all are situated in the left side.
Asus advertises their cooling system as Anti Dust which I found to be true as the laptop needed no cleaning or service for 2 whole years. The fans and the vents barely collect any dust and all of it is thrown out through the vents so it's best for those who don't know how to clean their laptops or don't need too much maintanence for their gadgets.
The left side features all the ports like
3 usb 3.2 gen ports ,
audio jack with mic input
and the back features
Lan port
Type c port with G sync support
HDMI port
Charging port
I found the arrangement of the ports very innovative because we use the right side of the laptop for mouse usage and you don't want any wires interrupting your gameplay.
This mouse cost me only 1100 rupees at launch
And features stunning RGB lights in the edges and 2 customisable buttons on the left side.
It also features a DPI switch near the scroll wheel for FPS games. I use a DPI of 1600.
I have found no issues using this mouse for 4 years and there are no double click issues as many claim in Logitech mouse.
My suggestion would be to only buy this in the black colour as it is hard to keep the mouse clean after all the sweating from your hands.
I purchased this for 1200 rupees and it has worked with no issues these last 4 years
I bought this one specifically as 4 fan design is the best for cooling and airflow.
You have to clean the blades of the fans every 6 months as there is dust accumulation.
Sadly this fan is now out of stock and the company has not yet released another model.
I bought this for 500 from Amazon.
There's not a lot to say it's just a mouse pad.
Don't forget to wash it once in a while although colour can fade with every wash.
Mouse pads come in 2 main types. Speed and control
Speed type mousepads feature smooth surface that let the mouse slide easily this is also easier and comfortable to keep your hand on.
Control type - these feature beaded rough surface for those who want a little traction and control while aiming in fps games. Although I don't recommend buying controller type it scratches the bottom of your mouse and it very uncomfortable to keep your hand on.
I purchased this for 1500 from Amazon.
The controller is wireless and uses modem to connect and charges through a micro usb port.
It also features good haptic motors for the immersion you need during offroad racing games.
The rear triggers and buttons feel very cheap and can easily break with hard force. My left trigger broke after playing tekken one time but it lasted for 2 years so I'm okay with the price. This model is very outdated now in 2024 and you would be better off buying a Ps5 controller for 4000 in sales as it is way better and would last longer or you can buy from brands like cosmic bite and power A.
These come with braided cable and have lasted all these years. The sound separation and stereo sound are very much usable for gaming.
They feature 12mm drivers and have good bass
The sound clarity although could be better
I'm waiting for the next model of earphones to launch
I purchased these for 600 from Amazon. I would have used sony earphones but they don't have braided cable and break easily
I also sometimes use my Vivo Xe710 earphones which I got for free inside my box of Vivo X60
At the price these come and how long they last there is no reason not to consider these. The sound quality is not as good as modern day tws around 2000 price range but when it comes to 3.5 mm wired earphones these are very good
That's all my Setup includes for now.
I'm waiting to finish my degree so I can finally purchase a proper Gaming PC setup.
Happy Gaming
