just released a launch trailer for the 20th anniversary celebration – and it might have teased recolors of the updated Tier 2 armor sets. If the purple Judgment armor recolor spotted in the World of Warcraft trailer is any indication, Blizzard might be adding alternative versions of the updated Tier 2 sets sometime in the future.
The 20th anniversary event has almost arrived in World of Warcraft. At press time, the servers are down for maintenance, with World of Warcraft Patch 11.0.5 and the accompanying anniversary event expected to go live on October 22 at 3 PM PDT.
During The Burning Crusade, several of the iconic Tier 2 sets from Vanilla WoW received class-agnostic recolors. Some of these, like the pink Transcendence, orange Nemesis, or purple Judgment sets, are especially popular. The revamped Tier 2 World of Warcraft transmog ensembles are some of the headlining rewards for the 20th anniversary event, but this Easter egg could indicate their recolors might arrive sometime in the future.
It is important to note this does not confirm these sets are coming. The camera moves quickly during that part of the video, so it is hard to tell if the purple Judgment armor uses the high-definition textures of its remake, even though it appears to be so. It could have been the original armor set – and if it was a remastered recolor, it might not be added to the game for a long time, if ever.
Either way, the prospect of getting these Tier 2 recolors is an exciting one for many players. While some of the Tier 2 World of Warcraft armor sets are iconic, many fans actually prefer the recolors over their classic counterparts. Whether they arrive in the Trading Post, future anniversary events, or some other avenue, players have been given renewed hope that they might see these ensembles in the future.
