I recently watched Kishkindha Kaandam in theaters, I can confidently say this film is a grand cinematic spectacle, I had heard a lot about this movie from my friends and reviews, but I hadn't watched it until now. After finally experiencing it in theaters, I can say the hype was absolutely worth it!
KishKindha Kaandam (Malayalam)
Director: Dinjith Ayyathan
Genre: Thriller, Drama
Cast: Vijayaraghavan, Asif Ali, Aparna Balamurali, Jagadish, Ashokan
Runtime: 125 minutes
The film opens with a routine government order ahead of elections, requiring firearms license holders to deposit their weapons at the nearest police station. What follows is an intricate storyline involving a missing gun, a missing person, and the unraveling of relationships, each revelation adding layers to the characters and their motivations, and it leads to many mysteries to be uncovered and taking multiple twists for the viewer, making an edge of the seat feel.
Kishkindha Kaandam seamlessly navigates between genres, making it difficult to classify. From action to suspense and moments of deep emotional resonance, the film fluidly shifts tones, keeping the audience intrigued and engaged.
The screenwriter Bahul Ramesh had done an amazing job as both a cinematographer and screenwriter, seamlessly translating his vision from script to screen and creating the layered subject easily understandable for us, while editor Sooraj E.S. masters the smooth transitions and Mujeeb Majeed's background score hits all the right moods, intensifying emotions and elevating key moments throughout the film.
Its timeless work of art is that hard-to-achieve space of uncertainty, which KishKindha Kaandam masterfully occupies. It would easily find a place among one of the best mystery-dramas Malayalam cinema has ever produced.
Kishkindha Kaandam is currently running in theaters, and if you get the chance, definitely watch it-it's absolutely worth it!
Happy watching 🍿
