Greetings of the day Questers!
Google Photos now labels images edited with AI and adds disclosure notes to help users identify AI-modified photos. This new feature, announced in a recent blog post, aims to make it easier to distinguish original photos from those modified with AI, in line with International Press Telecommunications Council guidelines.
Google Photos will now include an ‘AI Info’ label in image metadata, making it easy to check if an image was edited using Google Photos’ AI tools like Magic Editor or Magic Eraser. This feature follows standards from the International Press Telecommunications Council (IPTC) to identify images modified by AI.
When viewing an image in Google Photos, users can scroll to the ‘Details’ section to see a note indicating if the photo was ‘Edited with Google AI.’ This note will specify the AI tool used and include a ‘Digital Source Type’ label to clarify if generative AI or another editing method was applied.
Additionally, edits made with other Google tools, like Best Take or Add Me, will also be detailed in the ‘AI Info’ section, helping users easily recognize AI-generated or edited content in their photos.
