Riot Games has unveiled the locations for all major League of Legends (LoL) international tournaments for the 2025 season. With the announcement of Worlds 2025 returning to China, fans now have more exciting updates on the tournament schedule and locations.

Key Insights from Worlds 2025 Media Day

During the recent Worlds 2025 Media Day, Riot Games executives, including John Needham (President of Esports), Chris Greeley (Global Head of League of Legends Esports), and Paul Bellezza (Executive Producer of League of Legends), shared news about the upcoming competitive season. They introduced a new international tournament and revealed the venues for the three major global events for LoL's 15th season.

The First Stand – A Brand-New International Tournament

In 2025, Riot Games will introduce "The First Stand," a new international tournament designed to bring more cross-regional play to fans worldwide.

Here's what to expect:

Format and Schedule: The First Stand will take place from March 10-16, 2025, in Seoul, South Korea, at LoL Park. One team from each of the five competitive regions will participate.

Innovative “Fearless Draft” System: The tournament will feature a unique drafting system, called the "Fearless Draft," where champions picked in previous games are banned from selection in subsequent games. This twist adds a new level of strategy and excitement to each series.

Mid-Season Invitational 2025 – Canada Returns as Host

The 2025 Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) will be held in Canada, bringing the event back to the country after a long break.

Here's what's new for MSI:

Team Qualification: With regional slots reduced to five, each region will have two guaranteed slots, creating a pool of 10 competing teams.

Worlds Seeding: The top two regions from MSI will earn an additional spot at Worlds 2025, giving these regions more representation at the year's final tournament.

Worlds 2025 – A Grand Return to China in Chengdu

Riot Games announced that Worlds 2025 would take place in Chengdu, China. This choice follows the success of the 2024 Mid-Season Invitational held in the same city, which saw high levels of enthusiasm from Chinese fans and LoL Esports followers.
