The curtains have fallen on the TATA IPL 2025 player retention drama, with all 10 franchises finalizing their core squads. With a whopping INR 558.5 crore invested, a total of 46 players have been retained, setting the stage for a thrilling mega auction and an even more electrifying season ahead.

Each franchise was granted a hefty INR 120 crore war chest to assemble a squad of 25 players at the mega auction. To bolster their core, teams could retain up to six players, with a cap of five capped internationals and two uncapped Indian players.

The defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders, and the inaugural title holders, Rajasthan Royals, have shown unwavering faith in their core squads, retaining all six players. Five-time champions, Chennai Super Kings, along with Gujarat Titans, Lucknow Super Giants, Mumbai Indians, and Sunrisers Hyderabad, have retained five players each. Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Punjab Kings have opted for a more strategic approach, retaining four, three, and two players, respectively.

Punjab Kings enter the mega auction with a war chest of INR 110.5 crore, poised to make a splash and reshape their squad for the upcoming season.
