10 Features Grand Theft Auto 6 Needs to Have 😍❤️

In 2025, Grand Theft Auto VI is finally scheduled for release, with the expectation that it will launch in the Fall, roughly twelve years after Grand Theft Auto V arrived on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and took the gaming world by storm. Quite possibly the most anticipated video game release of all time, Grand Theft Auto VI has already smashed multiple records — its announcement became the most liked tweet in the history of X (formerly Twitter), its reveal trailer became the most viewed non-music video in 24 hours on YouTube and became the most liked video game trailer ever in 24 hours, and more, proving just how much hype surrounds the game.

Players have extremely high expectations for GTA 6, and for good reason — not only is developer Rockstar Games well known for creating ground-breaking narrative-driven games and ever-evolving online games, but they have had both the budget and time to deliver something incredible. With the number of things to do in GTA V: Online has risen hugely over the last decade, most recently adding a pizza delivery service and bail bond missions, GTA 6 has a lot to live up to. To achieve this, there are a number of fantastic features Rockstar could add to the game to make both the story mode and online mode mind-blowing experiences.

 10. Enhanced Driving Mechanics and Car Customization

Figure 2, view larger image

There has been a big debate among fans about whether GTA 6 should have similar driving mechanics as GTA V, or more advanced mechanics, like those in the Forza or Gran Turismo series, for example. While GTA 4's driving mechanics are well known for being difficult to master, due to some cars feeling too heavy when not necessarily required, and a soft handling system, GTA 5's is very easy, with arcade-like controls which apply across the board. GTA 6 could (and likely will) implement a brand new system of driving mechanics, fully utilizing the capabilities of the latest console generations, and giving gamers an overall better experience.

Unique, flexible weight levels (which increase or decrease the friction between tire and road) which could change based on player preferences/customizations could be part of the new system, giving gamers a reason to try and master different vehicles. As well as this, realistic braking, acceleration, and other handling physics could improve this driving system, making it a skill worth dedicating time to. Further vehicle customization features could strengthen this new driving system, allowing players to design their cars with both appearance and handling in mind.

9Streaming Music Whilst Walking or Cycling.

Figure 4, view larger image

The Grand Theft Auto series is constantly praised for its brilliant soundtracks, with GTA V in particular featuring iconic songs from genres like pop, rock, hip-hop, country, reggae, and more. Nothing quite beats late-night drives around Los Santos jamming out to one of the game's many stations, and these moments are sure to be re-created in the next game. Whilst the return of radio stations is expected, two new features should be added to make the game more modern and realistic and build upon device features — song streaming, and listening whilst walking/cycling.

Song streaming services are already available on both consoles and PC, so this new feature could utilize the latest generation's capabilities with relative ease. Furthermore, music streaming could be expanded beyond just vehicle radios with headphones, a cosmetic feature already present in the series. Through the use of an app on players' in-game phones, they should be able to stream their music to these headphones, so they could listen to music when walking or cycling around the city, allowing players to enjoy their favorite songs no matter where they are in the immense Vice City.

8.Cross-Play and Cross-Progression Are Essential

Figure 5, view larger image

Although we don't yet know anything about GTA 6's Online mode, it is widely expected to become one of the biggest online multiplayer experiences in the industry, after GTA V: Online's player count continues to rise over a decade after launch, alongside frequent updates, community roleplay (RP) servers, and more. Multiplayer gaming has developed so much since the release of GTA V, with games like Fortnite: Battle Royale and Call Of Duty: Warzone making ground-breaking advancements in live-service games. One of the greatest features in many modern multiplayer games, especially those live-service ones, is cross-play and cross-progression, making it easier for friends across consoles to play together.

Missing out on cross-play and cross-progression in GTA 6 would be a huge mistake, as it is a feature that brings players together and encourages a shared successful feature for the whole gaming community, regardless of console preference. As the game is updated and more features are added, cross-play and cross-progression could keep players returning to the game, ensuring their progress is accessible from any device on which GTA 6 is playable, and that they could experience these updates with all their gaming friends. The release of GTA 6 is arguably the most anticipated game launch of all time, and to reflect that it should allow gamers to experience it with any friend they wish, regardless of console.

7. More Enterable Buildings/Interiors

Figure 6, view larger image

GTA 6's map is expected to be at least double the size of GTA 5's, with Vice City itself being larger than the city of Los Santos, as deciphered by fans who have analyzed the game's major leaks. In GTA V, although it has slightly increased over time, there are not many buildings players can enter in story mode and online, with many interiors being reused for different purposes. This breaks immersion and limits how much of the world the player can explore.

In GTA 6, many more buildings should be accessible, with each giving the player a reason to enter, like grabbing food in a restaurant or working on their character's physique in a gym. A variety of shop types should be available, as well as vehicle showrooms, bars, clubs, banks, convenience stores, gas stations, and so forth, all of which would add to the immersion GTA 6 will bring. Furthermore, GTA 6 should also expand upon GTA V's apartment customization features. Players should be able to fully customize their properties, perhaps even purchase specific furniture, to design truly unique spaces, similar to that of The Sims, or PlayStation Home, further increasing the game's immersion.

 6. More Places to Rob and Heist in Freemode

Figure 7, view larger image

With many more buildings expected to be accessible on GTA 6's map, many more options for grounded, realistic crime should be available for players to enact, beyond just convenience store robberies from GTA V and GTA V: Online. By giving the players more freemode robbery options, like at a gas station, bank branch, and jewelry stores for example, GTA 6 could really play into the criminal aspect of the series more than its predecessors ever have, and finally take the franchise back to its roots.

Along with more places to rob, there should be more aspects to each robbery, beyond just intimidating the shopkeeper. Not wearing masks could lead to you becoming recognized in certain shops, special equipment could be gathered to make the robbery easier and access more previously inaccessible areas, phone wires or electricity could be cut to provide advantages, and so forth. Furthermore, it would be great if players could carry out their own heists in freemode as well as in missions — gather their own equipment, devise their own plans, and share their earnings with their crew. This would truly increase the immersion and excitement GTA 6 will offer.

5.More Places to Rob and Heist in Freemode

Figure 8, view larger image

One huge factor contributing to GTA V: Online's continued success is the addition of new activities in each update, building upon the game's already well-established ones. From the beginning, players could arm-wrestle, play tennis, darts, golf, go on rides at the Del Perro Pier, visit a shooting range, play at the arcade, practice yoga, participate in NSFW shenanigans, race in time trials, skydive, and more. Since then, so much more has been added, from gambling at the Casino and delivering pizzas to dancing at a nightclub and racing at the LS Car Meet — and GTA 6 should follow suit.

All of these activities make GTA V: Online feel so much more alive, creating a breathing city with so much to do that players can spend hours on end having fun with their friends. GTA 6 should expand these activities, adding more sports, like basketball and skateboarding, adding more bars and hangout spots, and expanding on the shooting range mechanics with things like archery and hunting — it really is limitless. GTA 6 should also add activities from previous franchise games, like gyms from GTA: San Andreas and proper street fighting from GTA IV. No matter which activities there are, a healthy amount will keep the game lively.

4. An Advanced Weather System

Figure 9, view larger image

Red Dead Redemption 2 was Rockstar Games' last triple-A game before GTA 6, and it was a truly breathtaking experience that massively surpassed expectations, becoming a must-play for any gamer who loves open-world adventures. GTA 6 will likely build upon game mechanics introduced in Red Dead Redemption 2, with one such feature being its dynamic weather system, which makes the game feel much more immersive.

GTA V: Online's weather cycle is basic, with 55 changes over a repeated time period of just under 13 hours, covering a variety of conditions. In Red Dead Redemption 2 the weather system works in a similar, yet more advanced way, as although there is a cycle, it is much more varied and exclusive to each area, ensuring variation in each region. If GTA 6 were to build upon this mechanic, the weather system could be absolutely mind-blowing — multiple rotating cycles with a vast range of different weather conditions would further GTA 6's immersion and realism, much more so than other modern games. Furthermore, it would be amazing if tropical storms and other extreme conditions could actually affect the map's environment.

3. A Social Media System Could Keep Players Connected

Figure 10, view larger image

LifeInvader, the Grand Theft Auto series' parody of Facebook, was a big part of GTA V's story, with Micheal having to sneak into the company's headquarters and assist Lester Crest in the assassination of CEO Jay Norris. The website was also interactable in the story, with players being able to look at other character's posts and profiles. In real life, Rockstar Games have their own social media known as Social Club, where players can interact with each other, send invites to crews, post in-game pictures, share music finds, and more, so social media currently plays a big role in the franchise.

2. A More Advanced Police System

Figure 11, view larger image

Over a decade since Grand Theft Auto V's initial release, social media has become a worldwide phenomenon, with its insane popularity, billions of daily posts, and its many influencers. GTA 6's trailer alone proves social media's involvement with the game, with many clips of in-game posts showcasing the people of Leonida in different situations. In GTA 6's story mode, it would be great to see social media change over time to reflect in-game progress, similar to how radio stations reference game progress in GTA V. Through social media, players should be able to see events happening throughout the city and accept different side missions. In GTA 6's online mode, Rockstar could utilize Social Club to create a fantastic in-game social media service for players to use, letting them communicate with each other, invite each other to missions, and share their journey with the community.

Police play a huge role in the Grand Theft Auto series, being the natural antagonist to the criminal protagonists, and to the criminal characters in GTA V: Online. Despite being such a big part of the most recent game and its online segment, the police are not really a big threat — often being easily escaped or defeated, even when the player has four of five wanted stars. Players can even call Lester in Online to call off the wanted level, instantly allowing them to escape. GTA RP has shown that players want more realism from police, from arrests and investigations to holding cells and even prison, and GTA 6 could finally achieve this.

Through leaks and rumors, the police are expected to be a much larger threat in the upcoming sixth game, featuring the ability to recognize players' clothes and vehicles, surround the player rather than just rush them, and allow the player to surrender before opening fire. Furthermore, if players could be arrested, it would be interesting to see the process behind how it would work, and how they could escape. All of these mechanics add to the realism and immersion of GTA 6, making the police a genuine thing players will need to plan and prepare for, rather than a tiny obstacle. A complete overhaul of police AI is a necessity for this game.

1.More Advanced NPCs

Figure 12, view larger image

Another great game mechanic that Red Dead Redemption 2 featured was NPC variation, making NPCs more active, unique, and memorable. This fantastic feature contributed to RDR2's living and breathing world, giving NPCs their own personalities and lives, with over one thousand individual NPCs, some of which even had entire gameplay cycles they went through. In GTA V, there are different types of NPCs you can find on the map, although they do fairly little.

GTA 6 should use the full power of modern consoles to further build upon both RDR2 and GTA V in terms of NPCs and AI mechanics, creating a living game world never quite seen before in the industry. By giving each NPC their own lines, cycles, and personalities, Leonida will become truly immersive, giving gamers a reason to interact with each and every person they encounter to see what happens. By giving each NPC a gameplay cycle too, it would keep them moving and participating in different tasks, like sports or drinking, keeping players engaged with this exciting new world.
