According to GameSpot, the updated page with Metroid Prime 4: Beyond was first spotted by a Reddit user by the name of Vasishath, which quickly led other fans of the games to enter the website and analyze the exciting discovery. Under Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, the updated page reads: "Embark on a new mission coming to the Nintendo Switch in 2025." This is great news, as it confirms that the release window teased earlier by Nintendo is still on track. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is likely to be one of the last AAA games coming to the Nintendo Switch, as everything suggests that the console's successor might also arrive in 2025.
Metroid's sub-series, Metroid Prime, has been around for more than 20 years, as the first installment of the current FPS trilogy was released back in 2002 for the GameCube and received a remaster in 2023. Many insider rumors indicate that a remaster for Metroid Prime 2 could also be in the works, but there's no official confirmation about it yet.
Since it was first announced, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has received a few encouraging updates; however, the game has also had its fair share of bad news. In 2019, Nintendo said that the development of the game was being restarted by Retro Studios, the same studio that developed the original trilogy. And while keeping the same studio is a good thing, it also likely means that development was somewhat delayed.
The Metroid Prime universe is so beloved that even the smallest leak narrowing down Metroid Prime 4: Beyond's release date has been reason for excitement. While Nintendo updating the official website to include the upcoming title is great news for players,
there are still few details surrounding what the story will be or what players should expect to see in it. At this point, all players can do is keep their fingers crossed and hope that the fourth installment of the series is as amazing as its three predecessors and that the release date is closer to early 2025, and not at the end of the year.
