Leaker reveals details about possible new desktop Snapdragon X Elite Gen 2 chipset

Qualcomm's next Snapdragon X Elite series may contain more than just laptop chipsets. Following Qualcomm's CEO claiming that Oryon V3 processors will bring 'excitement back to computing performance', Roland Quandt has detailed early details about a possible desktop-class Snapdragon X Elite 2 SKU.

Project Glymur is the working codename for second-generation Snapdragon X Elite chipsets, as well as 'SC8480XP'.

Since then, Qualcomm offered a few hints about the so-called Snapdragon X Elite Gen 2 or Snapdragon X Elite 2 last month during Snapdragon Summit 2024.

To that end, there were rumours earlier this year that Qualcomm had been developing the server-grade SD1 with 80 Oryon V1 cores on a 98.0 x 95.0 mm package.

Potentially, the Oryon V3 prototype described by Quandt could be an evolution of the SD1 in one form or another.

In the meantime, Qualcomm is expected to deliver Snapdragon X chipsets for OEMs targeting sub-$600 laptops.
