OpenAI has finally brought ChatGPT to WhatsApp, along with direct call support. You can now chat with the official ChatGPT on WhatsApp without relying on third-party chatbots. Best of all, it’s completely free and you don’t need to sign up or connect your OpenAI account. Not to mention, it’s available in all regions. OpenAI is using the GPT-4o mini model on WhatsApp and in my testing, it’s quite fast in responding to queries. On that note, let’s check out the steps.

Go ahead and save “1-800-2428478” in your phone’s contact.

Alternatively, you can scan the below QR code to start chatting with ChatGPT on WhatsApp.

Open WhatsApp and tap on the “+” button at the bottom-right corner.

Now, tap the QR code button next to “New Contact”.

Here, scan the QR code added above. Voila, you can now chat with ChatGPT on WhatsApp.

As you can see below, I am asking ChatGPT on WhatsApp to generate recipe for egg fried rice.

It works quite well, and the response speed is really fast.

Note : Keep in mind that it doesn’t support multimodal queries yet. It can’t generate images or process images or PDFs. However, in the future, many of the ChatGPT features will arrive on WhatsApp. In addition, users will be able to connect their ChatGPT account to access premium features.
