Users in the United States and Canada can now talk directly with the AI by calling 1-800-ChatGPT (1-800-242-8478)**, and WhatsApp users across the world can text the same number. This initiative is part of OpenAI's "12 Days of OpenAI" campaign, designed to connect with more people, especially those who may not have access to high-speed internet or the latest devices.

Heres what you need to know:  

Phone Calls - U S and Canadian users get 15 minutes of free voice interaction per month**. The service supports natural conversations but doesn’t include advanced personalization found in the ChatGPT app.  

WhatsApp Messaging - Global users can send texts, but features like image sharing or linked personalization aren't available yet.  

This is an experimental rollout, so features and limits may evolve over time.  

How to get started:  

1. Call - Dial 1-800-CHATGPT if you're in the U.S. or Canada.  

2. Message - Add 1-800-242-8478 as a WhatsApp contact and start chatting.
