Hope everyone is doing well! It's the second day of the new year, and I wish you all a fantastic start. Have you come across Instagram reels featuring people walking on a glass bridge, experiencing an extreme adventure? Surprisingly, such a thrilling attraction has now opened in India Tamilnadu!
India's architectural marvel has reached new heights! Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin recently inaugurated India’s first glass bridge over the sea, connecting two iconic landmarks: the Tiruvalluvar Statue and the Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanniyakumari.
Built at a cost of ₹37 crore, this 10-metre-wide and 77-metre-long bridge offers visitors a breathtaking experience, allowing them to walk safely while enjoying the mesmerizing view of the sea beneath their feet.
As part of the silver jubilee celebrations of the Tiruvalluvar Statue, the statue has officially been named the “Statue of Wisdom”. Installed on January 1, 2000, the statue stands tall at 133 feet, symbolizing the 133 chapters of the Tirukkural. Remarkably, it has survived the test of time, including the 2004 tsunami.
The glass bridge was constructed to address ferry-related issues and provide uninterrupted access between the landmarks. Visitors were also treated to a spectacular laser show during the inauguration, making it a memorable evening despite slight rain interruptions.
This new addition is set to boost tourism in Kanniyakumari and create unforgettable memories for visitors.
I’m thrilled that the Tamil Nadu government is prioritizing comprehensive development across the state, with a stronger focus on rural areas over urban regions, which is a great step toward balanced progress.
