SME introduces features like larger vector lengths, additional vector registers, and improved parallel processing, enabling processors to efficiently handle multimedia processing, graphics rendering, and scientific computations.

These advancements are expected to significantly boost the computing efficiency and overall performance of the new chipsets.

Early predictions suggest their GeekBench 6 CPU single-core scores could soar to 4000 points, posing a serious challenge to Apple’s A19 Pro, which is expected to launch around the same time.

Interestingly, Qualcomm has opted to retain its CPU cluster design from the previous generation, with a configuration of 2 mega cores and 6 large cores. MediaTek appears to be following a similar CPU architectural approach for its Dimensity 9500.

This shared strategy suggests that both companies are prioritizing a balance of raw power and efficiency.

With the advancements offered by SMEs and the performance enhancements enabled by the N3P process, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen2 and Dimensity 9500 could surpass expectations and narrow (possibly surpass) the performance gap with Apple’s dominant chips
