Sony patent reveals new gun attachment for DualSense controller, enhancing gameplay immersion.

The attachment adds aiming sight between R1 and R2 buttons for increased realism in shooting games.

According to a patent originally filed in June 2024 and just published on January 2, 2025, Sony is working on a gun attachment accessory that would allow players to add a "trigger" to an existing DualSense controller

Sony's patented gun "trigger" attachment would connect to the bottom of the DualSense controller, letting players hold the altered controller sideways and use the space between the R1 and R2 buttons as an aiming sight. This attachment would add an extra dimension of immersion to shooting gameplay, especially in FPS titles or action-adventure games, though there is currently no guarantee that this accessory will be made available to consumers

Figures 12 and 13 show how the gun attachment could be paired with a VR headset and other potential accessories

Looking at Figure 3, fans see exactly how the add-on would be attached to the bottom of the DualSense controller
