Of late, smart rings have become increasingly popular among consumers. Experts say they’re the next big thing after smartwatches in the wearable tech industry, prompting device makers like boAt, Samsung, Amazfit, Ultrahuman and Noise to release their own models. Smart rings are comfortable to wear for long periods and engage in discreet health monitoring with features like heart rate tracking, sleep analysis, activity tracking etc, all while maintaining a stylish and compact design.
The Gabit Smart Ring, marketed by BetterLife Horizons, is a nifty device that tracks your fitness, sleep, stress, and nutrition and other key health vitals. With a sleek design and functionality, it fits on your finger and provides a convenient way to stay connected and manage your daily activities. At Rs 13,800, it is nicely placed in the pecking order; boAt Smart Ring Gen 1 retails for Rs 8.5k while we have the Samsung Galaxy Ring (Rs 38,999) and Ultrahuman Ring Air Smart (Rs 25,000) at the higher end.
I liked the Gabit wearable’s minimalist design. Crafted from Titanium, it is resilient against wear and tear, and weighs just 3.1g, making it one of the lightest smart rings out there. There is 5 ATM water resistance too, making it reliable whether you’re showering or swimming. Trust me, you can wear it for 24 hours without any discomfort. The ring comes in three colours: Black Matter, Silver Matte and Glossy Rose Gold. The best thing about this ring is it looks good and wears well.
To get started, download the Gabit app from Google Play or App Store and scan the QR code that comes in the box. Literally, the set up is a breeze with no hiccups whatsoever. The app is easy to navigate, providing detailed insights into your daily, weekly, and monthly health trends through easy to understand charts. The Gabit ring also allows you to integrate with Apple Health and Google Fit though Health connect.
At my end, I connected the ring with my Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra phone and it exceeded my expectations with how comfortable it is to wear for 24/7 health tracking. Honestly speaking, wearing it takes me back to yesteryears when fitness trackers were popular. Unlike smartwatches, it has a strong battery; a user can enjoy up to 7 days of use on a single charge. It tracks VO2 max (a measure of how much oxygen your body can use during exercise), SpO2 (oxygen levels in your blood), resting heart rate and also its variability, plus calories consumed and burned. There are 15 workout modes to keep you engaged
You can keep an eye on your stress levels on the Gabit app. You can even analyse your sleep stages like deep sleep, REM sleep or light sleep and get insights into your sleep quality to help your body recover better. It comes equipped with sensors for monitoring your key health markets like skin temperature etc. There is a charging case for easy and efficient recharging of your smart ring.
In summary, the Gabit smart ring might be small, but it is a good device for your fitness and health monitoring.
