Google reveals Android 16 release timeline Beta in January stable release by May

Hey Questers ❤️

Android 16 will arrive a lot earlier than anticipated 2025.

While most Android smartphone users are still waiting for the Android 15 update, Google has disclosed that the first public beta of Android 16 will arrive by the end of January, with the stable release expected as early as May 2025. This suggests that Google will likely unveil Android 16 at its next I/O developer conference, which is anticipated to take place in May.

This timeline would also ensure that, unlike the Pixel 9 series—which shipped with Android 14 despite Android 15 being available—the next-generation Pixel 10 series is most likely to ship with Android 16 out-of-the-box.

Google recently released the second developer preview of Android 16 for eligible Pixel smartphones, and the first public beta is expected to be available for OEM devices from brands like OnePlus, OPPO, Vivo, Xiaomi, and others.

Android 16, codenamed “Baklava,” is said to enhance the user experience and system UI, offering greater flexibility for developers and users to control and configure apps according to their needs. This includes a new animation for the predictive back system and richer haptic feedback.

Android 16 is also expected to improve battery life, with enhancements such as better adaptive refresh rate capabilities. Additionally, it aims to enhance overall connectivity and networking-related functionalities. As the first public beta of Android 16 becomes available, we will learn more about its features and capabilities.

If you own a Pixel 6 or a newer model, the second developer beta preview is already available for testing. However, we do not recommend installing it on a primary device, as it may contain bugs that could disrupt key functions.
