CD Projekt Red has released the first patch introducing NVIDIA DLSS 4 support for Cyberpunk 2077

This game has been the unquestionable leader in introducing NVIDIA's new graphics technologies, such as DLSS 3 or DLSS 3.5, and it is now the first to launch with DLSS 4 technology.

What one should know about this update is that while the DLSS 4 support is now available, it means that you cannot use Multi-Frame Generation technology yet. This is an exclusive feature of the GeForce RTX 50 series 🥲

However, since DLSS 4 is not just MFG but also a new Al model using Transformers and not CNN (Convolutional Neural Network) models, this means that you can already see the difference in quality by switching to the new DLSS model, even on RTX 30 series cards.

According to CDPR, the DLSS 4 Transformer upscaling model has fixed artifacts and reduced smoothing in in-game screens when ray reconstruction is used. It also has improvements for stability, lighting, and details while in motion.

It is not clear if NVIDIA will release new drivers today, as is expected for the RTX 5090/5080 launch next week. However, since the DLSS libraries are shipped with the game, this may not be required.

Once the new driver is released, NVIDIA will also update its App software which will enable DLSS version overwriting, in case the game developer did not enable the latest version.
