was in for an unexpected surprise out of a fresh pack, pulling an extremely rare and unusual card. The trading card game based on the beloved monster-catching franchise has seen plenty of expensive and highly sought-after cards over the years, from all-time classics to stunning modern cards. Cards like "Base Set" Charizard have often been among the most coveted collector's items, while recent cards like the Umbreon cards from Evolving Skies  and Prismatic Evolutions have seen massive price points. Now, one fan has found a more unusual treasure in a pack.

While extremely rare, many Pokemon TCG  fans have run into, or likely seen, some of the game's occasional printing errors. The automated assembly line production of Pokemon cards and packs has infrequently seen print errors make their way into packs, with many being prized as rare occasions of a massive card game's mistakes. Misprints or mis-cuts often fetch high price points as sought-after collector's items, given their scarcity and Pokemon's passionate fanbase. Now, one fan is sharing their unusual find from a pack of Pokemon cards.

Reddit user Dall3578 shared their spectacular find to the official Pokemon Trading Card Game subreddit, showing off their unusual misprint. The card features one half of the card face for the Astral Radiance set's "Ice Rider Calyrex VMAX" on the right side, with half of the art for "Ice Rider Calyrex V" on the left side. The back also features a further example of the egregious "miscut," with halves of a normal card back spliced together. The rare Pokemon card  also appears to be improperly angled, with each card face tilted diagonally.

The unique miscut saw many impressed fans congratulating the user on their incredible find. Many commented on the extreme rarity of the misprint, given the two cards' position within Astral Radiance's "Trainer Gallery" subset, and suggesting that the user should have the card professionally graded. Some fans also pointed out that the Ice Rider Calyrex's misprint likely meant there are more miscuts from the same Pokemon TCG  set located elsewhere. Others suggested that the user should visit the devoted "Pokemon misprints" subreddit for more information about the card.

The Reddit user's lucky find comes as Pokemon TCG hype has hit a fever pitch throughout recent months. The newly-released Prismatic Evolutions has been one of the game's most hyped expansion sets, with "Special Illustration Rare" cards featuring each of the Eeveelutions. The frenzy over the set has been so great amongst fans and collectors that even GameStop has limited sales of the Pokemon TCG set to  two per customer. The unique Calyrex miscut should look to be a highly sought-after collector's item or a unique piece for the Reddit user's personal collection.
