Google is testing an Ask for Me feature to boost its AI base. This AI-powered feature will help users call businesses on their behalf to enquire about availability and pricing. The feature is designed to help users gather information without the need to directly make phone calls or speak to anyone. This feature is a step-ahead of OpenAI’s Operator.

Google’s Ask for Me feature is available on both desktop and mobile, but only for users who have opted into its Search Lab experiments.

Google’s Ask for Me: How does it work? 

If you're enrolled in Search Labs, you can access the new feature by searching for local services like "oil change" or "nail salons nearby." An "Ask for me" option will appear, along with a "Get started" button.Once clicked, you'll be asked to provide details about the service, such as “tire replacement,” “factory scheduled maintenance,” “french manicure,” “nail art,” and more. You can also specify a preferred time frame. Google's AI will then make calls to local businesses on your behalf and send you a summary of prices and availability.
