YouTube raked in around $10 billion in the last quarter of 2024, making it company's largest profit in a quarter from advertising alone.


YouTube, the Google-owned video-sharing platform recently released its annual earning report, according to which the platform raked in a staggering $36.2 billion in 2024.

this revenue is purely from ad sales and does not take into consideration the company’s earnings from YouTube Premium subscription and YouTube TV. This means that the streaming giant’s revenue is much higher than the aforementioned figure.


Out of the $36.2 billion, YouTube reported that it earned $10.473 billion in the last quarter of the year, which also happens to the be company’s largest profit in a quarter from advertising alone.


While YouTube had a record-breaking year, users may not be as surprised as ads on the platform have gotten worse year over year. In the last few days, some YouTube users have complained that they are seeing unskippable hour-long ads, forcing many to sign up for YouTube Premium.


In November 2023, YouTube started cracking down on ad-blockers, with some users seeing a pop-up warning asking them to disable ad-blockers on the page if they want to continue watching videos. It even issued a warning stating that it would disable video playback if a user ignored the warning and would only lift it if they disable it or buy YouTube Premium.


While many were against the war against ad-block extensions, YouTube justified its move by saying that ads were an essential part of how the website and creators earn money.


As it turns out, YouTube’s war against ad blockers may be paying off as more and more users flock to buy the Premium subscription as they get tired of seeing ads or risk of getting banned
