The 2009 Modern Warfare 2 is reportedly coming to Xbox Game Pass in either March or April 2025.

It's currently unclear whether the purported XGP version of the game will be content-complete.

Modern Warfare 2 could hence become the third Call of Duty title on Xbox Game Pass, after MW3 (2023) and Black Ops 6.

The original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is reportedly coming to Xbox Game Pass. The classic shooter is expected to reach Microsoft's subscription service in either late winter or early spring, further bolstering the Xbox Game Pass Call of Duty catalog

This is the original Modern Warfare 2 from 2009, not to be confused with the 2022 game of the same name.

The classic shooter will supposedly become available to Microsoft's subscribers in either March or April 2025. Insider Gaming has independently corroborated XboxEra's report, citing its own sources.

Activision's Canadian subsidiary Beenox has already remastered the original Modern Warfare 2 campaign for the eponymous 2022 reboot, but the 2009 shooter's multiplayer wasn't included in the newer title.

The Steam version of the first MW2 game had its servers taken offline in July 2023, following malware threat reports. Activision hasn't reactivated them since then, and it's unclear whether the publisher has any intentions of doing so.

Therefore, even if the 2009 Modern Warfare 2 is indeed coming to Xbox Game Pass, it remains to be seen whether its subscription service version will be content-complete.
