The developer of Spectre Divide, Mountaintop Studios, has announced its decision to close its doors and end support for the live-service game following the unsatisfactory performance of the title's first season.
This news comes a mere six months after the US-based indie studio first released Spectre Divide, its debut title, in September 2024
Mountaintop Studios CEO Nate Mitchell recently shared that the developer is set to shut down "at the end of this week," which would be March 15, 2025.
Explaining the decision to close up shop, Mitchell said that, despite an "optimistic" first week, Spectre Divide's Flashpoint season ultimately did not bring in the desired number of active players or a favorable amount of revenue to make up for the "day-to-day costs" of the game or the studio.
Interestingly, this announcement follows just 16 days after the game's console launch, which took place alongside the roll-out of Season 1.
With this, Mountaintop Studios has become the latest entrant on the list of studio closures in 2025, which also includes offices of AAA game developers like Ubisoft.
