Hey Questers ❤️
WhatsApp's move could help reduce spam on the platform while providing an additional revenue stream.
is WhatsApp, the Meta owned instant-messaging platform, will soon start limiting the number of broadcast messages. According to TechCrunch, the limit on how many broadcasts users and businesses can send in a month will be imposed by WhatsApp “in the coming weeks.”
One of the reasons WhatsApp might be going ahead with this is to reduce the number of spam broadcast messages users receive. The platform has already taken some measures to reduce the number of spam messages by limiting the number of marketing messages businesses can send in a day.
Meta, the company that owns WhatsApp, said that if individuals and businesses want to send more messages to a large group of people, they will have to resort to other tools like Status and Channels. At the time of writing this report, WhatsApp Business users can send an unlimited number of broadcast messages, but it looks like Meta is planning to introduce a paid version with additional features.
In the coming months, Meta will be testing customised broadcast messages for things like product updates and holiday sales, and the ability for WhatsApp Business users to schedule messages. WhatsApp will also be conducting a pilot test where merchants will be getting 250 customised messages for free, after which they will have to pay for additional messages. However, the platform is yet to decide how much these messages will cost.
Earlier this month, WhatsApp started testing a new feature which will combine replies to a message into a thread, making it easy for users to keep track of chats. The company is also working on a functionality that allows users to turn off the camera before they pick up a video call.
Thank you 😊
