Corning has introduced its latest Gorilla Glass Ceramic, a new protection layer designed to improve drop resistance and durability using ceramic material
Unlike traditional aluminosilicate glasses, Gorilla Glass Ceramic is claimed to offer better toughness and resistance against scratches & drops.
Key durability test results:
✅ Survived 10 repeated drops from 1 meter onto a rough surface (180-grit sandpaper).
❌ Competing glass failed on the first drop!
The recently launched Gorilla Armor 2 (used on the Galaxy S25 Ultra) also contains ceramic elements but offers higher drop protection – reportedly surviving falls from up to 2.2 meters on a concrete-like surface.
Motorola will be the first brand to launch a smartphone featuring Gorilla Glass Ceramic. 📱 However, the exact model remains unknown for now.
This development comes after Motorola partnered with Corning last year, aiming to bring stronger glass protection to its upcoming devices. 🔥
What this means for users:
🔹 Stronger drop resistance than regular Gorilla Glass
🔹 Better scratch resistance
🔹 Potentially thinner & lighter than other reinforced glass solutions
