Daily Limit on Image Generation

Despite the rollout, OpenAI has placed some restrictions on the number of images free users can generate. Due to overwhelming demand, CEO Sam Altman took to X to reveal that their GPUs were struggling to keep up. As of OpenAI’s last update, free-tier users can generate up to three images per day. Paid users also face some restrictions, though their limits are higher.

ChatGPT has supported AI image generation before, but this new feature is different. It uses “native image generation,” meaning the chatbot can create and refine images using its built-in capabilities rather than relying on external models like DALL-E.
