Details

MediaTek and Qualcomm are preparing to introduce their next-generation sub-flagship processors, the Dimensity 9400e and Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, respectively. These chipsets are designed to offer high-end performance while targeting premium mid-range and sub-flagship smartphones.

From the perspective of Mediatek

MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400e is essentially an enhanced version of the Dimensity 9300+, continuing the company’s commitment to full-core architecture. The Dimensity 9300+ features a 3.40GHz Cortex-X4 core, three 2.85GHz Cortex-X4 cores, and four 2.00GHz Cortex-A720 cores, along with a 12-core Immortalis-G720 GPU. While the exact specifications of the Dimensity 9400e have not been officially confirmed, reports suggest it will retain the 4 Cortex-X4 + 4 Cortex-A720 design with increased CPU frequencies for better performance.

On the other side, Qualcomm is preparing to launch the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, which directly competes with MediaTek’s offering. The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 (SM8735) is built on TSMC’s 4nm process and features an X4 + A720 full-core architecture. Specifically, it consists of a 3.21GHz Cortex-X4 core, three 3.01GHz Cortex-A720 cores, two 2.80GHz Cortex-A720 cores, and two 2.02GHz Cortex-A720 cores. The chipset is equipped with the Adreno 825 GPU, which belongs to the same generation as the Adreno 830 found in the Snapdragon 8 Elite Edition but operates at a slightly lower frequency. Benchmark scores indicate an AnTuTu performance exceeding two million points.

Several upcoming smartphones will adopt the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4.
