The Realme P3 Ultra (review) was launched in India as a performance-centric offering in the P3 series. With raw power as its priority, the Realme P3 Ultra checks all the other right boxes as well. From a striking design and powerful camera setup to a stunning display and long-lasting battery, the device offers it all. In the sub-Rs 30,000 price segment, it competes with another performance beast, the iQOO Neo 10R (review). The iQOO device offers a flagship-grade Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. To determine which of these two is a better performer, we ran synthetic benchmarks and gaming tests on them. Check out the detailed comparison below.

Verdict

The iQOO Neo 10R is a performance monster with an older but flagship-grade processor. It performs really well in synthetic benchmarks as well as CPU throttle and gaming tests. However, the Realme P3 Ultra with a newer CPU and GPU combination offers better efficiency and thermal management.

Tests Winner

Geekbench:- iQOO Neo 10R

AnTuTu:- Tie

CPU throttle:- Tie

Gaming test:- Realme P3 Ultra

Geekbench

The Geekbench app determines how a processor handles daily and intense tasks. The single-core and multi-core tests tell us about the processor’s prowess in handling everyday tasks and intense gaming or editing performance, respectively. Check out the iQOO Neo 10R and Realme P3 Ultra Geekbench scores below.

The flagship-grade Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset powering the iQOO Neo 10R, along with the LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage, shows its might over the mid-range MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Ultra SoC here. The iQOO smartphone scores 43% and 25% higher in single- and multi-core Geekbench tests, respectively.

Real-world context: While Realme P3 Ultra puts up a respectable score, the iQOO Neo 10R is a much better device for handling everyday tasks like browsing, social media, and calling, as well as intense tasks like gaming and editing. According to Geekbench, if performance is your priority, the iQOO Neo 10R might serve you better.

Winner: iQOO Neo 10R

AnTuTu

The AnTuTu benchmarking app also tests the GPU, Memory, and overall user experience. Its scores are more widely recognised by people and give a general idea of the kind of performance that can be expected from a device. Check out the iQOO Neo 10R and Realme P3 Ultra AnTuTu scores below.

The iQOO Neo 10R once again scores slightly higher thanks to the more powerful processor under the hood. However, it only scored 5% higher than the Realme P3 Ultra, indicating a very minor difference in overall performance.

Real-world context: Thanks to optimised software and the newer GPU of the Realme P3 Ultra, the latest launch covers some ground in the AnTuTu benchmark. Both smartphones are commendable devices offering outstanding overall performance.

Winner: Tie

CPU throttle test

CPU Throttle assesses sustained performance under heavy load (higher is better)

We now know that both Realme P3 Ultra and iQOO Neo 10R offer comparable general performance. The real question is how they perform under duress when pushed to the limit. To determine this, we ran the Burnout app on these smartphones, which performs a strenuous test to throttle the CPU and measure the performance.

Realme P3 Ultra :- 50.60 percent

iQOO Neo 10R :- 44.20 percent

When the CPU was throttled, the Realme P3 Ultra retained around 50 percent of its maximum performance. In comparison, the iQOO Neo 10R throttled down to 44.20 percent of its peak performance in the same scenario.

Real-world context: The Realme P3 Ultra appears to have slightly better thermal management and retains higher maximum performance when throttled. However, the difference between the two devices is not much and you should experience similar performance when pushing both these devices to their limits.

Winner: Tie

Gaming test

To test the gaming prowess of these two smartphones, we played COD: Mobile, Real Racing 3, and BGMI for 30 minutes each. During the 90-minute gaming session, the graphics settings were identical for all games except Real Racing 3, which has a standard setting that dynamically adjusts the graphical fidelity depending on the smartphone. For some reason, the Real Racing 3 FPS testing failed on our Realme P3 Ultra unit.

Average FPS during 30 minutes of gameplay (higher is better)

The Realme P3 Ultra and iQOO Neo 10R perform similarly and give identical average FPS in COD: Mobile and BGMI. However, the Realme P3 Ultra’s newer processor, graphics, and better thermal efficiency mean it runs cooler while gaming intensely.

Real-world context: The Realme P3 Ultra and iQOO Neo 10R are commendable gaming smartphones with similar average FPS. However, due to poorer thermal efficiency, the iQOO Neo 10R might experience offer slight lag or stutter with prolonged usage.

Winner: Realme P3 Ultra

Final Verdict

The iQOO Neo 10R, backed by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, emerges as the winner regarding benchmark scores but fails to ante up regarding CPU throttle performance and gaming. The iQOO offering is for those seeking a smartphone with sheer raw performance. If that appeals to you, the iQOO Neo 10R is up for grabs for a starting price of Rs 26,999.

The Realme P3 Ultra’s newer processor and GPU help it perform like a champ under intense usage, retaining higher maximum performance. The device also runs much cooler while gaming intensely on it. If consistent and well-rounded performance is your priority, the Realme P3 Ultra also starts at Rs 26,999 for the base variant.
