Blizzard Targeted By DDoS Attack

Blizzard has confirmed a recent DDoS attack on Battle.net, causing login issues, high latency, and disconnections.


The issue has since been resolved for most, but players still having trouble logging in have been advised to run connection troubleshooting.

Blizzard Entertainment has reported a DDoS attack that’s been targeting Battle.net, affecting players’ logins and other issues. Blizzard, an American developer and publisher, exists as a subsidiary of Activision Blizzard and is known for running the popular IPs World of Warcraft, Diablo, and Overwatch

Reported on April 3 on social media, Blizzard confirmed Battle.net was experiencing a DDoS attack, causing high latency and disconnection issues for some players, including faulty logins, similar to Final Fantasy 14’s 7.2 update recently targeted by DDoS attacks

To placate the player base suffering technical issues, Blizzard previously revived Hardcore World of Warcraft characters lost in another DDoS attack, and fans are questioning why these cyber issues keep happening.

On a lighter note, Blizzard is currently reviewing StarCraft game pitches from four major Korean developers, who all have exciting ideas on where to take the beloved science-fiction franchise next.

Netmarble, Nexon, Krafton, and NCSoft have all expressed interest in helming the next project, suggesting everything from a new mobile game to diving into the RPG genre.
