Google has released a new laptop update, a tool that makes research and writing notes using artificial intelligence. Adam Bignell, a software engineer of Google, explained that the notebooklm is designed to help users understand something more efficiently. One of his key features called Discover Sources is particularly useful for tasks such as papers writing, holiday planning or conversion of interviews. 

How Discover Sources Works

Discover resources allow users to describe the topic and notebooklm will find up to 10 relevant web resources with summary information. These sources can be imported into a notebook with just one click. This makes it faster and easier to collect important information and get a clear understanding of the topic.

Once the sources are added, users can use other tools in the notebook, such as Briefing Docs, FAQ and Audio Overview. This allows users to interact with the original sources to ask questions AI or make notes that are properly cited.

How to Use Discover Sources

If you want to use this feature, go to  notebooklm.google.com, open the laptop and click Discover. Describe your topic, check the proposed sources and import them by clicking. New users can also explore random topics using I and I Feel Curious. Notebooklm now supports multimodal PDF to interact with text, images, and graphs. Google ensures that all user data remains private and secure. The update began to introduce 2 April 2025 and will be available to all
