including a fix to an issue that forcibly overwrites save data files. The bug was capable of erasing valuable progress in the story of Blue Prince , which is one of 2025's best-reviewed games.

Released on April 10, Blue Prince quickly garnered praise from critics and fans  alike due to the first-person exploration puzzle game's intriguing narrative and intuitive gameplay direction. The story follows protagonist Simon Jones, who inherits the Mount Holly estate from their granduncle. To finalize the inheritance, Simon must find a secret room located somewhere in the house, with the twist being that the rooms shift and reset every day in an elaborate puzzle. Blue Prince players must decide from a randomized pool of rooms every in-game day while taking resources into account, since some rooms and puzzles require various items found throughout the estate during each in-game day. Shortly after launch, some players were affected by a save data bug that could bring major setbacks during their Blue Prince playthroughs, and the game's developer officially addressed the issue with the latest patch.

Blue Prince patch 1.01 is now available on PC and PlayStation 5, with Xbox Series X|S to follow soon after the update's initial release on April 15. The Blue Prince patch fixed a bug that caused new game files to overwrite previous save files after the user force quits the game. Going forward, force-quitting Blue Prince on PC and PlayStation 5  shouldn't result in lost save files and progress. Dogubomb also temporarily disabled options for backing up, restoring, or duplicating save files as an investigation into reported issues is still underway.

The new update also fixes an issue that causes the battery pack to spawn less frequently than intended, which prolonged certain sections of the game that required players to provide power to contraptions. The Blue Prince developers  also fixed an issue that prevented players from unlocking a safe in the shelter room, and the odds of drawing certain rare rooms while drafting have been tweaked.

Since there are still known issues being looked into, Blue Prince players can expect more updates with bug fixes soon. It's worth noting that Blue Prince is available with PlayStation Plus Extra  and Xbox Game Pass, so subscribers can dive right into the game at no additional cost while it's available on those services. Thus far, Blue Prince is one of the most highly-rated games on PS Plus and Xbox Game Pass of 2025, adding some more value to both of the services.
