The survival game Atomfall, developed by Rebellion Developments, has become a huge success after launching on March 27, 2025. The game is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X. It was also released on Xbox Game Pass from day one.

In just the first weekend, over 1.5 million players tried the game, and now the total number of players has crossed two million. Rebellion’s CEO, Jason Kingsley, said that launching the game on Game Pass was a smart decision. It helped more people discover the game, especially since it’s a brand-new title.

He also said that many players tried Atomfall through Game Pass and then told their friends about it. This word-of-mouth helped the game reach more people, including those who later bought it even without having Game Pass.

The game is set in post-apocalyptic northern England and is inspired by the real-life Windscale nuclear accident of the 1950s. It has a single-player mode and has been compared to the famous Fallout series.

According to Kingsley, the game did better than expected in terms of sales, and the team might now think about creating a sequel to Atomfall. He also mentioned that launching on Game Pass gave them a stable income and helped the studio make profits.

With this success, Atomfall has become the most successful game launch in Rebellion’s 32-year history.
