MediaTek Dimensity 9500: A New Flagship SoC Emerges
MediaTek is preparing to launch its next flagship mobile processor, the Dimensity 9500. Leaked details suggest significant upgrades over its predecessor, the Dimensity 9400.
Android Headlines
The Dimensity 9500 is expected to feature a 2+6 core configuration, comprising two high-performance Cortex-X930 cores ("Travis") and six Cortex-A730 cores ("Gelas"). This setup aims to balance power and efficiency.
The prime Cortex-X930 cores are rumored to reach clock speeds up to 4GHz, a notable increase from the 3.62GHz peak of the Dimensity 9400.
Built on TSMC's advanced 3nm N3P process, the Dimensity 9500 is anticipated to offer improved performance and energy efficiency compared to its predecessor.
The chipset is said to include a new NPU 9.0, capable of delivering up to 100 TOPS (Tera Operations Per Second) of AI performance, enhancing on-device AI tasks and machine learning applications.
An upgraded Immortalis-Drage GPU is expected, bringing improved ray tracing capabilities and better overall graphics performance, while also being more power-efficient.
The Dimensity 9500 is rumored to support LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage, aligning with current high-end smartphone standards.
PhoneArena
Early leaks suggest the Dimensity 9500 could achieve single-core performance scores approaching 4,000, marking a significant improvement over the Dimensity 9400.
While MediaTek hasn't officially announced the release date, the Dimensity 9500 is expected to debut around October 2025, following the annual release pattern.
With these enhancements, the Dimensity 9500 positions MediaTek as a strong competitor in the flagship SoC market, challenging offerings from rivals like Qualcomm.
