Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 with Gen AI, improved CPU unveiled: Features, Spec.

Qualcomm today unveiled a new 4nm Snapdragon 7-series chipset, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 Mobile Platform. The San Diego brand claims the chip offers an enhanced user experience, and it features select Snapdragon Elite gaming features. The new SoC also supports Gen AI assistants and large language models (LLMs). Here are the details.


Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 features


  • The chipset is claimed to deliver a 27 percent increase in CPU performance30 percent faster GPU graphics renderings and 65 percent improvement to AI performance over the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3.
  • The Kyro CPU architecture offers 1 prime core clocked up to 2.8GHz, 4 performance cores clocked up to 2.4GHz and 3 efficiency cores with up to 1.8GHz clock speed. 
  • The new chipset supports up to 16GB LPDDR5x memory and UFS 4.0/UFS 3.1/UFS 2 storage.

  • The Qualcomm Adaptive Performance Engine 4.0 is said to intelligently schedule resources for high-intensity tasks, keeping the gameplay seamless 
  • The Snapdragon Adaptive Game Configuration is said to fine-tune CPU and GPU performance in real-time for smooth game play. 
  • For gaming, there’s also the Snapdragon Game Super Resolution and Qualcomm Game Quick Touch.
  • The chipset offers Hexagon NPU with support for Gen AI features powered by the Qualcomm AI Engine. It brings features like image generation with Stable Diffusion 1.5.
  • The support for popular LLMs offers smart voice assistants, real-time translation and more.
  • The Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 brings the first-ever support for Qualcomm Expanded Personal Area Network (XPAN) technology outside the 8-series chipsets. The chipset also gets Qualcomm aptX Voice, aptX Lossless, and aptX Adaptive.
  • It brings support for WQHD+ display with 144Hz refresh rate and up to 4K 60Hz maximum external display.

  • For cameras, the new Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset brings Qualcomm Spectra Image Signal processor with triple 12-bit ISPs and up to 200MP photo capture.
  • Qualcomm says the AI-enhanced features are built directly into the hardware for the first time in the 7-series. There’s support for Real-time Video Super Resolution, AI-powered auto focus, auto white balance, and auto exposure. There’s also the series-first hardware-electronic image stabilisation.
  • Connectivity options include Snapdragon 5G Modem-RF System, Wi-Fi 7/6/5, USB 3.1, integrated Bluetooth 6.0, and GPS.
  • Lastly, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 offers support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 5 Technology.

Honor and Vivo will launch phones with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset this month. Realme will also be using the new mobile platform in the coming days.
