Ahead of Google I/O 2025, the tech giant announced that it is launching the NotebookLM apps for both Android and iOS. Launched back in 2023, the feature lets users upload their notes and uses Gemini to automatically generate summaries, ask questions about documents and materials and even turn them into an AI generated podcast.
Available on both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store, the NotebookLM mobile app homepage gives you access to all your recent and shared notebooks as well as the option to create new ones.
To create a new notebook, simply tap on the
“Create New"” button that appears on the bottom and add the sources you want to. In case you are wondering, these sources can
either be a PDE, a website, text or a YouTube video.
Moreover, you can also press the share button and tap on NotebookLM to directly add a new source. One of the most used NotebookLM features- Audio Overviews are also available on the mobile version of the app.
To chat with NotebookLM, tap on the
notebook you want to talk about and tap on the Chat button that appears on the bottom bar. If you are interested in listening to the AI generated podcast, head over to the Studio section from the bottom bar and press the Generate button.
In a blog post, Google said that users will alsobe able to download these AI generated podcasts for offline listening. The new NotebookLM app also features the
“Interactive”mode, which lets you join the AI generated podcast and ask questions about what you are talking about.
And while it does have a light and dark mode, they only change depending on the systemsettings with no way to manually toggle them.
The interface is pretty similar to the
NotebookLM's mobile website, but it still lacks some advanced features compared to the web version.
