Mortal Kombat is a legendary fighting game franchise that has been entertaining gamers for over three decades. Here's a brief history:

Early Days (1992-1995)

The first Mortal Kombat game was released in October 1992 by Midway Games. Developed by Ed Boon and John Tobias, the game featured digitized sprites and gruesome finishing moves known as "Fatalities". The game's success led to the creation of sequels, including Mortal Kombat II (1993) and Mortal Kombat 3 (1995).

Evolution and Controversy

The series became notorious for its graphic violence, sparking controversy and contributing to the creation of the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) video game rating system. Despite this, Mortal Kombat continued to evolve, introducing new characters, stages, and gameplay mechanics.

3D Era and Beyond

Mortal Kombat 4 (1997) marked the series' transition to 3D graphics. Subsequent games, such as Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance (2002) and Mortal Kombat: Deception (2004), expanded the series' storyline and characters.

Reboot and Recent Developments

In 2011, the series was rebooted with a new timeline, starting with Mortal Kombat (2011). This was followed by Mortal Kombat X (2015), Mortal Kombat 11 (2019), and Mortal Kombat 1 (2023), which introduced new characters and storylines.
