It's currently unclear, but it's possible that the upcoming update had a helping hand from Virtuos. The studio previously collaborated with CD Projekt Red for the RPG's last major update in December, working on UI improvements for the patch. Fans also recently discovered evidence that suggested Virtuos was assisting in the development of a second Cyberpunk 2077 DLC.

While the upcoming patch won't be on the same scale as Cyberpunk 2077's critically acclaimed Phantom Liberty DLC, it's possible that the studio has been working on some additional quests for the update. For now, however, fans will have to wait a few more weeks to find out what CD Projekt Red has been cooking for the surprise patch.

While the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 has only just entered its pre-production phase, a recent tech demo for The Witcher 4 shows that development on the title is much further along.
