Qualcomm is gearing up for its annual Snapdragon Summit this September, where it is expected to unveil the highly anticipated Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 processor. While the chip has already made multiple appearances in leaks, a fresh report has taken excitement to a new level with surprising clock speed revelations.

According to insider information shared today by Digital Chat Station, the SM8850 — marketed to be the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 — has shown remarkable figures in its DVT (Design Validation Test) phase. The standard version reportedly reaches a prime core frequency of 4.8GHz, while the high-performance edition, possibly the Galaxy-specific or Leading Edition, goes even further to an astounding 5.3GHz. This marks a significant leap in raw performance, driven by Qualcomm’s second-generation custom architecture.

For context, the current Snapdragon 8 Elite (SM8750) clocks in at 4.32GHz for the regular version and 4.47GHz for the high-frequency variant. That makes the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 a notable generational jump in terms of clock speed alone.

However, these figures are from early-stage testing and may still change before the final launch. Nonetheless, the early signs indicate that Qualcomm’s next flagship chip could be its most powerful yet.
