#4 Decoding Smartphone Components | Display | #KYP Know Your Phone

Hey Questers!

Welcome to the fourth post of the #KYP (Know Your Phone) series.

The display is the face of your smartphone. It’s where everything comes alive — from binge-watching shows to gaming and scrolling social media.

Let’s decode what makes a display good or great!

🔍 What is a Smartphone Display?

A display is the component responsible for showing content — images, videos, apps, games, UI — everything you interact with visually. It's one of the most important factors for user experience.

🕰 A Quick Evolution

  • TFT LCD (2000s): Flat, poor viewing angles
  • IPS LCD (2010s): Better colors and brightness
  • AMOLED: Deep blacks, high contrast, used in most modern smartphones
  • LTPO AMOLED: Adaptive refresh rate & power efficient (found in premium phones)

🔁 Refresh Rate & Touch Sampling

  • 60Hz: Standard
  • 90Hz / 120Hz: Smooth scrolling & animation
  • 144Hz / 165Hz: Gamers' delight
  • Touch Sampling Rate: How quickly the screen responds to your touch (Higher = better in gaming)

🎨 Resolution & Display Size

  • HD+ (720p): Entry-level
  • FHD+ (1080p): Mid-range standard
  • QHD+ (1440p): Flagships only

✅ Brightness (measured in nits) – important for outdoor visibility

✅ Wide Color Gamut (DCI-P3)

✅ Eye Care Mode / DC Dimming (for eye protection)

📱 iQOO Display Examples

  • iQOO Z9 – AMOLED, 120Hz, FHD+
  • iQOO Neo 9 Pro – LTPO AMOLED, 144Hz
  • iQOO 12 – 6.78" E7 AMOLED, QHD+, 144Hz, 3000 nits brightness!

💡 Pro Tips

  • Prefer AMOLED or better for best visuals & battery savings
  • Gamers: Go for 120Hz+ refresh rate
  • If you're outdoors often, check peak brightness (nits)
