Giving fans several more weeks to enjoy the mode. Blitz Royale is a new roguelike game mode that puts players into a short 5-minute gaming session on a small map with 32 players; each player is given a random medallion and weapon from the previous seasons, and much like in Battle Royale, the goal is to eliminate other Fortnite  players and survive storm circles.

Blitz Royale was originally scheduled  to take place from June 18 to July 15, giving players roughly a month to enjoy the new game mode. Each week featured new loot, including some mythic items exclusive to both the Avatar: The Last Airbender and TMNT: Melee Mayhem character sets. Since Blitz Royale was only just released recently, any news about this Fortnite game mode is something of a surprise.

According to HYPEX on Twitter, Blitz Royale is officially being extended to August 12, and players can look forward to several additional weeks of mythic loot. As of now, the rumored themes of each week will include loot from the Dragonball, Mortal Kombat, and Jujutsu Kaisen character sets. This isn't the first time the Dragonball set has been mentioned  as a possible target for loot in Blitz Royale, but it has not yet been revealed which exact mythic items fans can expect. Even so, any opportunity to earn more exclusive loot is definitely good news for Fortnite players.

This news comes shortly after it was discovered that Blitz Royale is breaking records  for peak player counts in Fortnite. At its peak, Blitz Royale reached a concurrent player count of 443,379 players at once, which made it the most popular mode on Fortnite at the time. Given that this game mode has been very popular since its inception, it makes sense to extend the feature and give the fans more of what they already seem to enjoy.

The success of Blitz Royale has a lot to do with its difficulty level, as quicker matches inherently ensure a more aggressive style of play in Fortnite.  This changes the dynamic of the game a bit, forcing players to consider different strategies in order to win. This extension will keep Blitz Royale active for approximately one additional month, giving players more time to develop the best possible strategy to secure victory and get the coveted loot included each week.
