🚀 Big news from #Sony

Today (June 27, 2025), Sony’s Semiconductor Solutions officially launched the LYT‑828, a stacked 50 MP CMOS sensor for smartphones.

🤩 Sensor highlights:

– Size: 1/1.28″ (≈12.49 mm diagonal)

– 50 MP effective resolution

– Quad-Bayer filter array

– Designed for both main and sub‑camera modules

🔥 HDR gets a major upgrade:

Sony’s new Hybrid Frame‑HDR (HF‑HDR) blends single‑frame (Dual Conversion Gain) and multi‑frame HDR. Result? A dynamic range over 100 dB—the highest yet in Xperia’s mobile lineup.

🎯 Why 100 dB matters:

This wide dynamic range minimizes blown highlights and clipped shadows. Yes, that means more true-to-life photos—even in tough lighting.

🌙 Smarter low‑light imaging:

With Ultra‑High Conversion Gain (UHCG) circuitry, the sensor converts light to voltage more efficiently, which significantly lowers noise—perfect for night shots.

⚡ Always‑on HDR video:

Thanks to low‑power logic, HDR isn’t limited to stills—it stays live in preview and 4K video mode, without heating up your phone. What you frame is what you capture.

When’s it shipping?

Mass production begins late August 2025. Expect to see this tech in flagship phones launching late 2025 onward. Vivo’s X300 Pro is rumored to be first, following the X200 Pro that used the LYT‑818.

📊 Tech specs at a glance:

| Spec | Detail | |------|--------| | Pixels | ~50 MP, 1.22 μm unit size | | Frame rates | 4K @ 120 fps (all-pixel AF); 12.5 MP @ 120 fps | | HDR Video | 60 fps HF‑HDR with 6 % LLE | | Interfaces | MIPI C-PHY 2/3 up to 6.0 Gsps/trio; D-PHY 2/4 lanes |

Part of Sony’s “LYTIA” family:

The LYT‑828 continues the push under the LYTIA brand—bringing high-end imaging tech (like stacked CMOS, UHCG, HF‑HDR) to smartphones.

 🧭 Why this matters:

– Smarter HDR even when zooming in

– Cleaner low-light performance

– HDR‑on preview = more trust in shots

Expect future smartphones to capture scenes closer to real vision.

 🕵️‍♂️ Watch for it in:

Flagship camera phones (likely Vivo X300 Pro, maybe others)

Next-gen video-focused devices

Possibly foldables and premium mid-range models

📝 TL;DR:

Sony’s LYT‑828 is a 50 MP, stacked CMOS sensor boasting record-breaking 100 dB HDR, advanced low-light tech, and always-on HDR for stills and video. Mass production hits in August—2025 smartphone cameras are about to level up!
