Tej Kohli is a tech entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist best known for backing one of Europe’s top esports teams, Team Vitality. Originally from India, he built his first successful company in Costa Rica during the late 1990s, focused on online payments and fraud prevention. After selling that business, he turned into a global investor, putting money into tech, real estate, and medical innovations.
Through his investment company Kohli Ventures and esports-focused fund Rewired.GG, Kohli invested millions into esports, starting with a €20 million investment in Team Vitality in 2018. This was one of the biggest esports investments in Europe at the time. He later added another €14 million, helping the team grow quickly.
Team Vitality is based in Paris and competes in major games like League of Legends, Counter-Strike 2, Valorant, Rocket League, MLBB and more. Thanks to Kohli’s support, they’ve built top training centers in Paris and Berlin and partnered with big brands like Adidas and Renault.
Kohli didn’t grow up playing video games, but after attending a live esports event with his son, he realized how huge and exciting the esports industry is. He saw the same energy and passion as in a football stadium and decided to help esports grow, especially in Europe and Asia.
Outside esports, Kohli is also known for his charity work. His Tej Kohli Foundation funds medical programs, including efforts to cure corneal blindness in poor communities. His goal is to use wealth and technology to make the world better.
In brief, Tej Kohli is not just investing in teams—he’s helping build the future of esports. With his business smarts and global vision, Team Vitality is now one of the most powerful and fast-growing teams in the world.
