Hey Questers,
As many of you already know that cricket is coming back to the Olympics after 128 years! The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has confirmed that T20 cricket will be part of the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Both men’s and women’s teams will compete, with six teams in each tournament. The USA will get a direct spot as the host country, and the other teams will qualify through tournaments that will be decided soon.
This is a huge moment for cricket because it was last played in the Olympics way back in 1900. Now, with its growing popularity around the world, especially in countries like India, England, Australia, and even the USA, cricket is finally getting a chance on the world's biggest sports stage.
Many people believe this will help cricket reach new fans and grow even more. Indian athletes and celebrities are especially excited, and the ICC says this is a big step for the sport’s future. There are some challenges too, like how teams from the West Indies (which is a group of Caribbean countries) will qualify, since each country usually has its own Olympic team
Cricket became a medal sport at the Asian Games in 2010. Since then, both men's and women's teams have competed for medals.
Here's a quick look at the winners:
India made history by winning both men's and women's gold medals in the 2023 Asian Games. The men's final against Afghanistan was washed out by rain, but India got the gold because they were the higher-ranked team. The women's team beat Sri Lanka by 19 runs to take the top spot.
That is all for today. Will meet you on another thread with another topic.
Thank you
