BMW is poised to make a sensational entry in the Hypercar class with the M Hybrid V8 at the 92nd 24 Hours and 2024 FIA WEC.

BMW M Team WRT has officially announced its lineup of BMW M works drivers set to compete in the Hypercar class as BMW M Motorsport makes its return to the FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) in 2024.

The previously confirmed duo of Dries Vanthoor and Sheldon van der Linde will be joined in the top class by Raffaele Marciello, Marco Wittmann, Robin Frijns, and René Rast, forming the driver lineup for the two BMW M Hybrid V8s managed by BMW M Team WRT.

The FIA WEC's 2024 season begins in Qatar, with the Prologue scheduled for February 24-25, followed by round one on March 2.

Team Principal of BMW M Team WRT, expresses excitement about their Hypercar lineups, dubbing them 'a dream team.' Robin, Sheldon, and René bring a mix of youth, WEC experience, and car development knowledge. Marco and Raffaele, newcomers to the WRT family, join Dries, forming another formidable trio of drivers.

Vosse acknowledges the pressure on the team but emphasizes the exceptional speed in the cockpit with these drivers.

Andreas Roos,

Head of BMW M Motorsport, highlights the strength of their driver selection for the 2024 WEC season in the Hypercar class. The lineup combines driving excellence with experience in the two BMW M Hybrid V8s, including familiarity with the LMDh car and the race series, particularly Le Mans.

Roos notes that Marco Wittmann has previously driven the BMW M Hybrid V8 in the IMSA series, while the rest of the drivers, including newcomer Raffaele Marciello, have undergone extensive testing and will continue to do so in the coming months.

In the #15 BMW M Hybrid V8, Vanthoor will partner with Wittmann and newcomer to BMW M Motorsport, Marciello.

Car #20

Meanwhile, van der Linde will share driving duties in the #20 BMW M Hybrid V8 with Frijns and Rast.
